Governments. Councils and increasingly Co-ops (such as farmers) in recent years have tendered for excellence in Engineering. In many cases the result have been joint ventures such as those in the Wind Energy Arena between Leighton Contractors and Vestas.
Australian Industry Best Practice
An international Best Practice Model has recently been established by a major Australian Engineering Company which can be readily implemented in Australia.
Project: ILEC Wind Farms
Customer: Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative
Phases:
WorleyParsons is providing Owner’s Engineer and Construction Management services for two wind farms developed by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative (ILEC). The total size is 21 MW of generation which consists of 14 GE turbines. There were several unique and ground breaking actions taken for this project, located near ethanol production facilities in their service territory. ILEC used CREB bonds for financing of the project. Commissioning has taken place in February and March 2009.
The world's biggest offshore wind farm Greater Gabbard is a £1.5billion 500MW offshore wind farm under construction about 23 kilometers off the east coast of England. This project has been led by an Australian Engineering Firm SKM & Fluor.

- To establish traineeships and apprenticeships schemes in conjunctions with industry, education and government
- To place future employees with long term jobs in the wind energy industry.
