Mission Statement
The institute promotes awareness, conducts research and works in an advisory capacity to the clean energy generation industry. The institute also works in an advisory and consulting capacity on new and emerging technologies, community and infrastructure planning regulations and environmental and site assessment policies and practices. In addition, the institute actively engages with government and industry in all matters relevant to Wind energy generation in Australia. The association has members in 90 countries who are working for the promotion and world wide deployment of wind energy technology. Our Educational Members have worked with www.CoOp key players for over 20 years and workshops are being negotiated with The Co-op Museum to showcase Wind Energy Performance Management particularly in the indigenous arena. The AWEI Plant a Wind Mill Foundation is a Green Communities initiative. The aim of these initiatives is to deliver energy independence and sustainable local employment opportunities to regional Australians and remote Australian communities.
AWEI assignments
- To implement a National Curriculum for the Department
of Education in Wind Energy Technology in association with national
organizations such as the TAFE & University sector as well as
international organizations.
- To facilitate the government New Apprenticeship Scheme in Wind Energy Technology.
- To review and update
The Training Standards Australia with regard to specific wind energy industry training requirements.- To provide a platform for the
communication of Government policies & regulations in the wind energy sector in Australia.- Provide national and
international technology & research expertise through its Cooperative Research, Education and Industry Centers.- To work within the
national renewable energy research framework with a focus on solutions for communities and industries.
AWEI functions
The institute represents and works on behalf of its members in all aspects of wind energy and any areas of sustainability that include or are associated with energy production, finance, ownership and operations maintenance. This charter includes an extensive government relations portfolio and peak representations in key areas of interest.
